Vern French Grove passed away on November 2, 2024, at the age of 98, in Everett, Washington. Born on November 13, 1925, Vern dedicated 36 years as a bus driver for Metro in Seattle, Washington, where he was known for his reliability and kindness.
Vern served in the Navy, a commitment that reflected his love for his country and his strong sense of duty. Throughout his life, Vern was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, actively participating in the Mountlake Terrace ward.
He was a man of simple pleasures, enjoying hobbies such as cribbage, fishing, and most importantly, spending quality time with his family. Vern was known for his honest and caring nature, always putting his family first.
Vern is survived by his sons, John Grove, Ron Grove, and Gus Oliver; his daughter Sharon Oliver; and grandchildren, Jeff Grove, Lisa Martinez, Kelly Baker-Devins, Shonna Stroud, Stephanie Loveless, Shira Zinkand, Bobby Cohen, Hy Cohen, Seyder Riascos, Mia Riascos, Aaron Oliver, Selena Oliver, Mica Oliver, Mitchell Oliver, Jennifer Oliver, Kevin Oliver; and his great grandchildren, that meant the world to him. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bette Grove; and his children, Beverly King, Jerry Oliver, Nat Oliver, and Shorty Oliver.
Services will be held at Solie Funeral Home in Everett, Washington. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Disabled Veterans, honoring a cause close to his heart.
Vern Grove will be remembered for his kindness, humor and commitment to his family. A loving figure in his family, he leaves behind a legacy of kindness that will not be forgotten.
