A Memorial Service will be held for Spencer at Solie Funeral Home, 3301 Colby Ave, Everett, WA 98201 on June 21st starting at 1pm
Spencer K. Thunder, an Everett resident since 1976, passed away on March 24, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on December 5, 1939, Spencer was known for his great sense of humor, generosity, and kindness throughout his life. Spencer had a distinguished career in education, initially working as a classroom teacher before advancing to become the Principal of Maplewood Elementary School. He also served as an instructor for City University and Eastern Washington University satellite classes, impacting many lives through his dedication to education. In addition to his professional achievements, Spencer served in the National Guard, demonstrating his commitment to both his community and country. An avid collector, Spencer had a passion for antiques, coins, and political buttons. His other hobbies included extensive travels and a love for cooking, which he shared with friends and family. Spencer graduated from Fife High School and later earned his degree from Central Washington University, laying the foundation for his future contributions to education. He is survived by his wife, Jeanine Thunder; his children, Scott Thunder, Mark Thunder, and Karen Marcum; and his grandchildren, Seth, Loren, Shastin, Sean, Kayla, and Chloe, and his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Shirley and Don Laird, Laurell and Larry Johnson, and Julie and Joe Rand. Spencer was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Hathaway, father, Maynard K. Thunder and sister, Janet Workman. A celebration of life will be held later this spring to honor the memory and legacy of Spencer K. Thunder.
