Jeanne Sagel

Jeanne passed on peacefully at home from this life to join her parents, brother, and infant son in heaven; she was 84. A woman of quiet faith with many friends and a blessing to her children.

A native of Friday Harbor and a graduate of F.H. High School, where she was Senior Class President and School Valedictorian, Jeanne was active in 4-H, Band, and other school activities. While in school, she also worked at her parents’ restaurant, Vic’s Drive-in located on Friday Harbor; her family were the original owners. She had the distinction of being awarded a scholarship to Seattle University where she earned her teaching degree. After her fourth year as a 3rd grade teacher ‘Miss Reynolds’ met and married Ernest F. “Sam” Sagel, changing her career to wife and mother. She enjoyed traveling and living in different cities with her husband Sam, a career Navy man. Along the way they added to their family: children, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren.

Settling down in Marysville after her husband retired from the Navy, Jeanne became involved in her church and her children’s school activities. She remained active in the community and was a life-long Mariners fan. The strength of her faith was matched only by the depth of her kindness. Jeanne’s genuine love for others was her special gift. She never met a stranger, only a new friend. She exuded a generous, easy warmth and fellowship that endeared others to her. She will be deeply missed by all those fortunate enough to know & love her in return.

Jeanne is survived by her husband Sam of 53 years, daughter Jennifer, and sons Jeffrey (Allyson), Michael (Kira-Lynn), grandchildren Aimee and Victor, and her nephew. Preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Margaret Reynolds, brother Victor Leroy Reynolds, and infant son Darin Joseph Sagel.

Services at St. Mary’s Church and internment in Marysville Cemetery.
