Kenneth Duane Hill, 89, of Snohomish, Washington, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2026.
Born in Barnard, Kansas, Kenneth lived a full and hardworking life defined by curiosity, craftmanship, and love for the outdoors. After serving in the United States Army, he had a passion for building and creating-famously constructing a sailboat in his younger years and taking to the water to sail. While working toward his master's degree in Nuclear Physics and Mathematics at the University of Washington, he also served as an instructor teaching mathematics, sharing his knowledge and passion for learning with others. That same dedication to hands-on work and problem-solving carried into his career as a Mechanical Engineer at Boeing. His work there also provided opportunities to contribute to projects with NASA, where he was involved in programming efforts related to early spaceflight and orbital missions. He retired from Boeing after a long and accomplished career.
Kenneth found joy in simple, meaningful pursuits-working with his hands, spending time outdoors, and being surrounded by family. One of his proudest accomplishments was building his forever home alongside his beloved wife, Patsy, creating a place filled with love, care, and lasting memories.
He will be remembered for his steady presence, strong work ethic, and the legacy he built both professionally and personally.
He is survived by his loving wife, Patsy L. Hill; his stepdaughter Bobby Schroeder; his grandchildren, Christian McGovern and Rory Strasburg; his great-grandchildren, Jonathan McGovern and Jeremy McGovern; and his great-great-grandchildren, William McGovern and Wrenleigh McGovern. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Alden Hill, Jim Hill, and Maynard Hill; his sister, Louise Novak; and his great-granddaughter Jessika McGovern.
A memorial service will be held at the Everett Yacht Club on May 10, 2026, beginning at 12PM.
Kenneth's life was one of quiet strength, creativity, and enduring love for his family. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him, especially for his forever big smile!
