June Harer Christensen June H. Christensen, 91, died Dec. 3, 2018, at home in Everett, Washington, where she resided for the last three months of her life. Before that she lived in Fresno, California from 1973 to August 2018. June was born Harriet June Harer on May 27, 1927, in Alameda, California, to Herman and Elvira (Soderwall) Harer. She graduated from Alameda High School in 1944. She attended the University of California at Berkeley, and graduated from Seattle Pacific College in 1947 with a BA in psychology and economics. While in Seattle, she met her future husband, Richard "Dick" Christensen, a pastoral intern at First Covenant Church. They were married in Oakland, California on Dec. 29, 1949. June worked at Crocker Bank in San Francisco, then began a long career as a medical assistant in various doctors' offices in southern California and Fresno until her retirement in 1993, after which she volunteered at St. Agnes Hospital until 2011. She enjoyed reading mysteries, vacationing at the family cabin in Santa Cruz, tending to her roses, visiting with friends, attending Bible studies, visiting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and singing in the church choir. She and Dick traveled to many countries during their retirement. In August, five months after Richard died, June moved to Everett to be near her daughter. June is survived by her son, Clyde (Debbie) Christensen in Miami; daughter, Susan Christensen Misao in Everett; grandchildren Rachel (Chris) Breslin, Becca Christensen, Ruth (Luke) Taylor, Alyce Davie and James Davie; and great-grandchildren Noa, Titus, Emett and Simeon Breslin. She also leaves her niece, Claudia (David) Kelly, and two nephews, Curt Cochrane and Don Cochrane. June was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Richard, whose obituary can be found at https://www.yostandwebb.com/obituary/5710724. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Caryl (Gordon) Cochrane. June's ashes will be placed with her husband, Richard, at San Joaquin National Cemetery in Santa Nella, California.
