Jerry D. Bundy, legendary sprint car driver and beloved farmer, passed away on September 12, 2026 on his farm in Everett, Wa. A resident of Ebey Island since 1974, Jerry was born on May 10, 1946, to Alfred N. Bundy and Eleanor E. Bundy in Filmore, ND on his family farm. Where he spent 10 years tending to animals, building whatever he needed to make tasks simpler and enjoying the landscape around him. He and his family then moved to California where Jerry graduated from Edgewood High School and his need for speed began. From there, he started to build his family and settled in Washington, working in many different industries but found the most comfort with his cows. 

In the late 60’s early 70’s Jerry adopted a hobby that turned into a lifestyle, then a family. Sprint Car Racing. Starting at Sky Valley, racing took him all over the country as he served many different roles. Standing out with his first 410 win in 1979 at Skagit Speedway, winning multiple championships as Crew Chief for Barry Martinez in the early 2000’s, and twelve different top 10 points seasons in the 360 and 410 divisions over his 26 year career competing at Skagit Speedway. Jerry liked to live life at full speed just how he liked his race cars. Slowing down wasn’t an option, but he knew when it was time to rest. 

He loved what he did and did what he loved. But most of all, loved to watch his family fall into his racing footsteps and to be in nature basking in the moment with the ones he loved by his side. 

Jerry left a lasting impact on everyone he met over his 80 years, and will never be forgotten. His compelling wisdom, undeniable compassion, and tongue-and-cheek humor will be missed by all. 

Preceded in death by his mother, father, daughter Eleanor Bundy, and granddaughter Hayleigh McGhie. 

He is survived by his partner Donna McGhie, three siblings, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
