Jane Eleanor Gillow passed away on October 21, 2026, with her family by her side. Jane was born in the small Southern Indiana town of Patricksburg, where she met her future husband, Lonnie Gillow, while they attended the local high school. They married in 1952 after Lonnie was drafted and stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington. Jane traveled alone by train to visit him there, showing the courage, independence, and devotion that defined her life.
In 1965 Jane moved with Lonnie and their two children, Karen and Brian, to Washington. Leaving behind all she had known to begin a new life without a job or home waiting for them was a testament to her love for Lonnie and her faith in the future they were building together.
Jane was incredibly strong, deeply intelligent, and a woman of firm convictions. She believed in doing things the right way, following the rules, and in standing by what she believed. She was never afraid to speak her mind or hold a strong opinion, and those who knew her understood that her strength came from a deep sense of loyalty, responsibility, and love.
After raising her children Jane furthered her education, building on her achievements as a scholarship winner and valedictorian of her high school class. She went on to work for the city of Everett for many years, retiring at age 79.
A loving and devoted wife and mother, Jane became a grandmother with the birth of her granddaughter Michaela. Practical and resourceful, Jane was the careful saver and the protective anchor of her family. More than anything, she wanted the people she loved to be safe, warm, well-fed, and fully cared for.
Jane cherished the time spent with her family exploring the Pacific northwest through camping, hiking, and fishing. She also enjoyed the many travels she and Lonnie shared.
With the loving care of her family, wonderful caregivers, and hospice nurses, Jane was able to remain comfortably at home until her passing. Her family will be forever grateful for the kindness, compassion, and support they gave during this time.
Jane will be laid to rest at a private family service at GAR Cemetery in Snohomish, Washington.
