Eddie was the 4th child born to Ronald J. and Aileen A. Goetz in Everett, Washington, May 29, 1965. He died November 14, 2025 of pneumonia at Providence Regional Medical Center. Ed is survived by his mother, Aileen Covert, sisters, Ronda Konen (Mike) and Rita Goetz (Ron Halstead) and brother Andrew (Dena), nieces, Della, Delaney, Alexa, Zoe and Grace, stepsisters, Kerry Anne and Alison, great niece, Teddy Jo and great nephews, Porter and Landry, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Ed was preceded in death by his father, Ron, stepfather, Bob Covert and stepbrother, Cal. Eddie began his education in Montessori classes at age 5 and continued in public schools attending special education classes until graduating from Everett High School, class of 1986. Ed worked for Goetz and Sons Western Meat Company in janitorial maintenance. Throughout the years, he was employed at Taco Bell and McDonalds as a lobby attendant. He also worked short term at Honeywell and Back Technologies. While dedicated to his employment obligations, Eddie made time for his friends and activities. He attended Camp Easter Seal and Camp Patterson. He was honored to be a Special Olympics athlete excelling in downhill skiing and earned many medals with the Ski Hawks Racing Team, giving him the nickname, "Fast Eddie." His other sporting activities with The Special Olympics included track and field, soccer, golf and bowling. He also swam at the YMCA. Ed loved belonging to St. Mary Magdalen Parish. His funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 8517 7th Ave. SE, Everett, WA 98208, December 5, 2025 at 11:00 am. Burial will be held at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon.
