Daniel Ross Spangler was born on September 20, 1946 in Salem, Oregon to parents John and Maxine Spangler. Together with his older sister Jennifer, Dan and his family moved to Everett, Washington in the early 1950’s.
Dan had a happy childhood where he enjoyed reading, playing with fireworks, family camping and fishing with his Dad. He attended Northside Church of God. He graduated from Everett High School in 1964 and went on to attend Everett Community College before enlisting in the Naval Reserves. He served active duty in Vietnam working as Harbor Patrol. Upon discharge he returned to Everett where he met his future wife, Stana, of 54 years. Together they raised three children: Aaron, Rachel and Sarah. Dan worked in various factories, including Scott Paper, Nord Door and Achillies. He loved going to garage sales and collecting treasures, watching Mariners baseball, reading his daily newspaper and gardening. He had a great thirst for knowledge and love of books throughout his life. In younger days he enjoyed floating and canoeing down local rivers.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Maxine Spangler and baby brother Steven. He is remembered by: his wife Stana, sister Jennifer Daniels, children Aaron Spangler and his wife Jaimee, Rachel Frederick and her husband Greg, Sarah Spangler and fiance Eva, six grandchildren Andrew Spangler, Milo Spangler, Kenzie Spangler, Aidyn Frederick, Iris Frederick and Marigold Spangler, and special cousins Sally and Les Sorenson.
Dan passed away November 4 in the presence of family at the age of 79. He lived a long and fulfilling life and will be greatly missed. Burial will be at Tahoma National Cemetery.
