Cora D. Cunningham

Cora Deon Cunningham, age 81, of Everett, Washington, passed away on March 25, 2026.

Cora was born on March 2, 1945, in Arco, Idaho, to Lowell and Ellen “Vada” Burke. She later moved with her family to Cashmere, Washington, in 1957, where she was raised and graduated from Cashmere High School in 1963.

In 1969, Cora married Larry Lee, and together they built a life centered on family, raising their two daughters, Penny and Tiffany. During their 23 years together, they worked hard, stayed closely connected to extended family, and created many lasting memories.

Later in life, Cora met Phil Cunningham in 1992, and they were married soon after. Together, they built a life on Ebey Island, where they raised cows and cared for their orchards. They also shared many adventures, including trips to Reno, time spent at Lake Riley, and working side by side on Phil’s commercial fishing boat in Alaska.

Cora had a deep love for her family and friends and was especially proud of her grandchildren, who brought her immense joy. She was known for her easy smile, sparkling eyes, and quick wit. She found happiness in coloring, scrapbooking, crafting, and most of all, caring for those she loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lowell and Ellen “Vada” Burke; her sister, Marlene Cottrell; and her husband, Phil Cunningham.

Cora is survived by her daughters, Penny (Cary) Wheatcroft and Tiffany (Tim) Meditz; her stepdaughter, Susan Bearer; her grandchildren, Chase (Marrissa) Wheatcroft, Camden (Jaime) Wheatcroft, Chelse (Jason) Brock, Carly McElroy, David Bearer, and Michael (Kayla) Bearer; her sisters, Ellen (Dean) Warren and Ann (Pete) Main; her best friend, Jane (Tom) McElroy; close family member Steve McLain; as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

A funeral service will be held on April 8, 2026, at Solie Funeral Home, 3301 Colby Ave, Everett, WA. A viewing will begin at 11:30 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. A reception will follow at 1605 51st Ave SE, Everett.

A burial service will be held on April 10, 2026, at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum, 1301 10th St NE, East Wenatchee, WA, at 1:00 p.m., followed by a reception at 1136 Barton Square, East Wenatchee.

Cora will be deeply missed and forever remembered for the love, laughter, and light she brought into the lives of those she knew.
