Arthur Robert DeGroot

Arthur Robert DeGroot, born June 22, 1942, passed away peacefully at home on April 29,2026 remembered for a life that touched many and will not be forgotten.

Art was born June 22, 1942 at General Hospital in Everett to Harry and Gert DeGroot. He attended Everett Christian School before continuing his education at Marysville High School. In the fall of 1965, Art was drafted into the United States Army, where he served his country including a deployment to Vietnam.

On December 6, 1963, Art married Adria Ann Harlander. They shared 62 years of marriage, building a life together centered on family, hard work, and steady commitment.

Art is survived by his wife, Adria; his daughter, Alicia Sharkey (DeGroot); his son, Aaron DeGroot; and his grandchildren, Spencer Sharkey and Sydney Holman (Sharkey). He is also survived by his brother, John Harry DeGroot, and his sisters, Esther Rylaarsdam (DeGroot) and Jan Jubie (DeGroot).

Art was a hardworking man who took pride in providing for his family. He was known for his strong work ethic and steady approach to life. In his spare time, he enjoyed collecting a wide range of items, with a particular interest in stamp collecting. He will be remembered for his dedication to his family and the simple, lasting impact he made on those around him.

A Memorial Service will be held at First Christian Reformed Church, 1429 McDougall Ave, Everett, WA 98201 on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 10:00am.
