James (Jim) R. Ebert, Maj. USMC, (Ret), son of the late Dr. Joseph William and Eunice Ebert, entered into rest peacefully on September 23, 2018 at the age of 94. Jim grew up in Everett, WA, attending all grades at Immaculate Conception and graduating from Everett High. Jim would go on to earn a B.S. in chemistry from Seattle University. Jim was a charismatic leader and outstanding athlete. He was president of his senior class 1941, played half-back on Everett's state championship football team, was captain of the track team, earning all-state honors in the 220 hurdles and relay team. He was also captain of the golf team. An accomplished golfer, he won the 1948 Snohomish County Amateur. With the outbreak of WWII, Jim entered Naval flight training, earning his "Wings of Gold", and being commissioned a 2nd Lt. in the U.S. Marine Corps. Jim Served his country faithfully through three wars, flying the vaunted F4-U Corsair during WWII and Korea. His many decorations include five air medals and the Distinguished Flying Cross. Upon retirement from the Corps in 1966, Jim embarked on a second career as a commercial fisherman, which allowed him to pursue his adventurous and independent spirit. He thoroughly enjoyed the experience, especially the close friendships and camaraderie with his fellow fishermen. Jim leaves behind his devoted wife, Lorraine; three sons, James Stephen (Belinda), John (Sheri), and Patrick; and daughter, Jane; brothers, Thomas, Charles, and Paul; and sister, Teresa Werlech; along with three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. His brother, Dr. William Ebert; and sister, Maureen Ebert preceded him in death. Memorial services will be held at Solie Funeral Home, Everett, WA on October 24, 2018 at 10:00 a.m.
